Louisiana Record, Former employee claims Harvey Gulf did not pay overtime wages

NEW ORLEANS - A Florida seaman has filed a class-action lawsuit against a New Orleans marine transportation company over the company's allegedly unlawful pay practices.

Droyce Lang filed a complaint on behalf of individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Harvey Gulf International Marine LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was employed by the defendant from Oct. 11, 2013, to March 3, 2016. The plaintiff holds Harvey Gulf International Marine LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime compensation at the rate of one-and-one-half times his regular rates of pay and failed to make and keep accurate time records.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages for unpaid wages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees, costs, and disbursements and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Christopher L. Williams of Williams Litigation LLC in New Orleans and Anthony J. Lazzaro and Chastity L. Christy of The Lazzaro Law Firm LLC in Cleveland, Ohio.
